Boom! Congratulations to the 99 Explosion Select who finished a strong second in the WFC Coastal Championships at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on 6-19-16! A extremely strong tournament field included the Virginia Slammers, Sudden Impact (Alabama), Maryland Patriots, South Carolina Fury and South Carolina Force. After losing early in bracket play to the Maryland Patriots, the 99 Explosion won 3 games back to back over the Virginia Slammers, South Carolina Force and avenged an earlier bracket loss to the Maryland Patriots to make it to the championship game against the Alabama Sudden Impact. The championship game was an extremely well played game that featured many diving plays and clutch 2 out hits, 1 such ended a 2-2 time in the bottom of the 6th inning on a solo shot homerun by the Impact 4 hitter on 2-2 count. It was a great experience and a great tournament. Great job Impact and Explosion, we are very proud of your efforts! For the tournament, the 99 Explosion finished with a 6-2 effort and earned a berth in the WFC Nationals. Big props to our pitchers, Ariel Holt, Maggie Savage, Hailey Byington and Sydney Birchfield. The 99 offensive attack was led by Maddie Sickau, Sydney Dukes, Ariel Holt, Delaney Weller, Sydney Birchfield and Emma Seagrave.
