Great pitchers need great catchers.....continuing it's commitment to the proper development of it's players, the Knoxville Explosion Fast Pitch Softball Organization completed a month-long catching camp on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 with many of it's catchers in the various age groups.  A total of 18 different catchers ranging from 8 to 18 participated in the month long event aimed at teaching all fundamental facets of catching such as framing, blocking, throwing, fielding bunts, etc.  The lead instructor, Kent Matthews worked with each of our catchers during the camp.  We would like to recognize the dedication, hard work and sacrifice by the catchers that attended the camp.  Congratulations to our age group Winners:

- 12 and Under Group Most Improved, Mikayla Heidel ('02 Explosion)

- 18 and Under Group MVP, Marieve Elkins ('99 Explosion)

- 18 and Under Group Most Improved, Mallory Overton ('01 Explosion)

As a small token of appreciation and commitment, Organization Chief, Joe Birchfield, presented each player with a gift card to Brewsters for Ice Cream!  A special shout out goes to Coach Kent Matthews who worked with our players for the entire month!
