Atomic Boom! For the first time in program history, both of the teams coached by Head Coach Joe Birchfield played on the field in a tournament, coincidently, it was for the 16u ASA Class B Tennessee State Championship. Both teams had very different routes in this tournament, as the Explosion Select went undefeated throughout tournament play whereas the 99 Explosion lost the first game of bracket 9-0 to a very good East Tennessee Crush Team. The 99 Explosion had to reel off... 4 consecutive victories in blistering heat to meet their older sisters on the field. The 99's jumped on the Select 3-0 in the first inning but then were overcome with an offensive burst by the Select resulting in a 7-4 victory for Select. Congratulations to both the Select (Champs) and 99 (Runnerup), for embodying the spirit of our program and representing us with class on the field. A big shoutout to numeroud players including tournament MVP Abby Swilley who hit a blistering .900 with 3 homeruns, our home run hitters on both teams which included Bug Campbell (Select), Jesse Mizell (Select), and Tori Ogle (99). Congratulations girls, we are extremely proud of your on the field efforts!
