Atomic Boom! Congratulations to the Explosion Select who won the USA 18u Division of the Big Orange Showcase on 7/16/17! The tournament was played at Caswell and Knox County Sportspark with the championship game for each division finishing in beautiful University of Tennessee Lee Stadium. There were a total of 12 teams from Illinois, Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky. The Select met the Tsunami in the Championship and won 1-0 in a very well played game by both teams. A special shout out to the Tsunami who ran the table in bracket play knocking out #2 and #1 seeds in their division to make it to the championship game, great job ladies! For the tournament, the Select went 6-1, outscoring the competition 30-12. The Select pitching staff of Ariel Holt, Maggie Savage and Madison Owens were outstanding, combining for the shutout victory in the Championship game as well. Our big bats for the weekend was Ariel Holt (2 Hrs) and Khrystena Norton (1 Hr). Several of the Select hitters came through in clutch situations. Defensively, Krystin Cantrell had a game saving catch catching what would have been a 3 run homerun in Centerfield in bracket semifinals. Absolutely outstanding performances this weekend everyone! With this tournament, the Select's 2017 Summer Season comes to a close. Have a great remaining summer everyone, we will be starting fall soon!
